Didjeridu

As a corporate team experience, the didjeridu offers
a unique and unforgettable event for both
work- and conference-groups!

An Australian first !!!

What is it? Corporate Didjing! is a unique event that incorporates learning to play the Didjeridu as an powerful team-based activity. Participants are shown an incredibly easy and structured process to start playing the didjeridu and build simple tones and sounds. The group is then challenged to grasp the concept of circular-breathing: the key to effective and advanced playing. Finally, the new-found playing knowledge is used to create a “tune” that represents the group and/or its corporate objectives and priorities.

Who is it for? The Corporate Didjing! program is designed for working groups, workplace teams, project teams and conference groups. The program is particularly useful as a corporate event designed to provide an energising activity for any group on conference or corporate assembly. The unique Australian cultural heritage from which this instrument originates, makes a fascinating and enthralling experience for international and overseas conference groups on visitation to Australia. Groups can range from 10 to 100 participants.

No previous experience or musical ability is required whatsoever!

When is it used? The program is designed to provide the perfect conference break-out, as well as a stand-alone team activity, or as a component of a comprehensive team-building program. Key team or conference priorities can be neatly incorporated into the overall program, such as communication, paradigms, fear of unknown, supportive roles and creative processes.

Where is it run? The program is perfectly adapted to be run in-house, where the sounds of the didjeridus are captured and shared, or outdoors on a grassed and shaded area, where a real sense of connectivity to the surrounding natural environment provides a truly re-energising result.

What is included? A 2 hour program provides:

  • a presentation of the instrument, its heritage and history
as well as an introduction to the principle traditional and
    contemporary playing styles
  • a warm-up breathing and initiation activity
  • practice didjeridus provided for each participant
  • a lesson on playing a simple “drone” or basic tone
  • key skills on adapting the drone to play tempo-tones
  • key skills on adapting the drone to incorporate animal
    and other sounds
  • an introduction to the art of circular-breathing
  • an opportunity to identify a corporate/team priority or
objective and creating a representation in the tones and
    sounds learned

How much does it cost? The 2 hour program costs $200 per 10 participants up to 50 participants, including provision of didjeridus to each participant and the complete program (larger groups of up to 100 participants on negotiation.) The program guarantees that participants will be able to play a drone, make tones and sounds, and grasp the concept of circular breathing by its completion.

Corporate Didjing! client feedback...

"I want to pass on a big Thank You from the group for your memorable session at our retreat. We all had a fantastic time challenging ourselves to learn a new skill (some of us were obviously quicker learners than others!). Hearing the stories of your experiences with traditional masters (and the kids) in Arnhem Land was a bonus and I know the group appreciated your honesty and sincerity. Your respect and enthusiasm for traditional indigenous culture is reflected in your playing and teaching and definitely had a positive impact on the group and their experience.
So again, a huge thank you!!"
   N. Woodcock LGAQ

"Your program provided the turn-around and light in an otherwise rained-out and disillusioned conference meet. I don't know what else could have promoted that much fun and laughter!  Many thanks from all the conference members"  P. Hewgessen UniMS

"Brilliant!  A real buzz!  I never thought we could play those sounds, let alone play a tune together.  Can't wait to try it on the vacuum hose at home!"  A. Davids ATO

"You inspire them with honest and passionate energy and show them that it is ok to have laugh and learn together.  Great job!"  C. Lawlor SCEC
